Thanks paddy and Irish Referee for your support but you can't get blood out of a stone. If people don't care less then human nature being what it is you can't force them. Perhaps, if I disable it someone might eventually realise that they have lost a good resource?Cheers DS

My two bobs worth:
Although I don't post much or log on often, I visit the the forum almost daily, either from work or at home.
I find most topics interesting and informative, otherwise I wouldn't visit the forum.
I would not like to see the forum go as I find it interesting reading other referees experiences, as my experiences are similar.
Posting replies and starting topics is similar to public speaking. I cannot to do this comfortably and therefore I am hesitant to reply or start a post.
Also, I am afraid of asking questions, in fear of asking something silly and embarrassing myself, or my question is answered sarcastically by a Moderator, as in the past.
Most moderators are extremely helpful and therefore I find this forum a useful tool, expanding my referee skills.
Good luck to everyone this weekend.

Don't worry about that and join in. many won't even know who you are.
From my perspective, the forum is good as a resource and as a means to keep in touch with what is happening in Granville and the wider football community. You also need to accept that nothing can run flat out all the time. Don't try to force it or you will lower the standard.
Just need to be careful, even with some of the posts run in the past in the forum, it can seem a bit cliquey, especially to some more reserved participants, and some of the "in jokes" and comments can easily lose those not in the know.
However, I alsways enjoy it when I have the opportunity to log in. So don't lose heart, keep it going. remember quality not quantity has got it to where it is.

Forum has gone dead again - looks like everyone has gone to sleep as the season is over. Don't forget the AGM on 25th October, 2007. How about some discussion on that? What do you want for next season? Who is going to put their hand up for a position, etc.?Webmaster - GDSRA

I am considering whether or not I want to renominate. To be quite honest, I'm also considering not renewing my membership.
I have a month to decide about the first, then possibly five more depending on the first decision.

Evo5,
Mate !
You can't give it away now. The longer you do it the better we get. The better we get the more fun it becomes. Hang in there son.
So, don't give it away- as I would be a real shame to loose you.
As far as the appointments - great job this year buddy though really tough times. Not my cup of tea, but don't let it put you off the fine art of refing.
Take care and see you soon, Moose

Every year around about this time, I start to question why am I refereeing and get this very sad feeling I just want to leave the whole capper. But I think I enjoy it more than I hate it.
This year, I have had some excellent games and also had some really crap games, I felt like I was refereeing a school yard fight, rather than a game of football.
I think I need a good long break and will consider doing it again. As for joining the MC, I doubt that very much...hell will freeze over before I get involved with that bullnuts politics.

I will renominate for my two positions again I think I have held the position of Liaison Officer for nine years now. Would love to make it the magic 10. Evo as I said last night don't throw it all in, you've worked so hard. have some time off and at least rejoin like JR says. I know it has been a harde year for you most of all and you did a fantastic job. wWe would have been lost without you this year.

The first decision is easy. You're coming back as AO. No question there.
So the second one doesn't matter

I can understand people reflecting on whether they wish to go on especially in a committee person's role. Everybody has comments about how things should be done but very few put up their hands to do the thankless task.
I have often thought about giving the game away, usually after I have a game where nobody wants to play football and I end up with heaps of paperwork. Politics kill the game but you will never stop it. I enjoy the game too much and the good far out weighs the bad for me.
I can feel for Evo5 and his job of allocating referees to games. It is such a thankless job with pull outs, draw changes, forfeits and the like. People just don't realise the work involved and the person doing the job cops abuse from all quarters.
Perhaps, more support for the position from both the football association and the referees association would help. We are lucky in Ireland where we have a paid person doing allocations but when it is done for nothing with little support it affects family and your life. I can understand why people may say enough is enough.
From what I can understand from DS Evo5 has done a great job this year in a very troubled season as far as games were concerned. Hopefully he will continue as surely next year will be better however, if he decides not to he should be respected for that decision and supported in it with appreciatation for what he did.
Good luck to Evo5 in whatever decision he makes.
Cheers
Paddy

Personally, I've lost interest in quite a few things, lately.
I'm going through the motions, doing what needs to be done. The Passion for everything is absent.
