The Finals Series Procedures have been released. Please make sure read them, understand them, and take them with you to your semi final, finals and grand final games if you have been appointed.
For most of yous it will be along day event with breaks in-between. So please make sure you include some snacks, food and drink in your kitbag and enjoy the day. You may notice many of senior members will be appointed to support the junior members by assisting them on the line which is an essential part of the finals series. There will be a senior referee or committee person at each location so please report to them when you arrive to do your games.

Hi Direstraits Referee,
One question I have relating to Kicks From the Penalty Mark regarding the following bullet point:
• Each kick is taken by a different player and all eligible players must take a kick before any player can take a second kick.
Is the goal keeper required to take a penalty kick?

Simple answer - Yes
Not so simple answer - Law 3 says that the number of 'players' is eleven and this includes one that is the goalkeeper. So, a goalkeeper is a player.
Only eligible players can take part in the kicks from the penalty mark (KFTPM)
Eligible players for KFTPM are explained in the part just after Law 17 - they are - the players on the field of play at the end.
So, the GK must take a kick but they can be the last person if the team wishes

JD is correct Eca - the keeper is a player so he has to take a kick as well if they get that far through the players in the team. There is also no reason the keeper can't be one of the first five kickers.

Thanks guys for the clarification.
I thought it was an important point to raise for the younger referees (and coaches) to know that the goal keeper is required to take a kick from the penalty mark before any player takes a second kick.
Anybody out there have a penalty shoot out on the weekend?
If so any dramas and did you require more than 5 kicks from each team?

The other things for KFTPM is that a team MAY change goal-keepers before each and every opposing kick if they wanted too!!!!!!
