Dear Colleagues,
It is with great sadness that I inform you that Philip Thomas passed away in the early hours of this morning.
As many of you will be aware, Philip was not well and was unable to recover from his illness.
I know your thoughts are with Philip's family at this time and I will pass on your sympathies.
I will inform you of the funeral arrangements when I know them.
Regards,

Very sad news.
Phil had one of the toughest jobs in the GDSRA, assigning referees for every weekend during the season.
He got my vote this year for the Harry Berle Members' Member Award because in my opinion he performed admirably during the season doing a tough job.
Rest in peace Phil.

Out of all the senior referees, Phil was the referee I was AR for the most, especially over the past two seasons. I feel honored to have been his AR in the finals and then again in the Grand Finals this year.
I certainly have many memories from the games I've done with him, and I shall not forget those.
Rest In Peace Phil, you will be missed by many.

I too am sadden by the loss of one of GDSRA's tireless members who spent many long hours on making sure as many games as possible were covered each year in his thankless role of Appointments Officer.
I hope as many members as possible will attend the funeral on Thursday 18th November, 2010 and pay their respects to a member who will be greatly missed. RIP Philip Thomas.

Hi gang,
just a brief note to advise that our branch here in the US held a minutes silence at our meeting last night for a fallen comrade.
i believe it goes to show that referees around the world have the greatest respect for their peers,
At least Phil won't be alone at his final resting place, as my father is also there,
Vale Phil.

Sad news indeed, he did so much hard work for the association. I didn't always see eye to eye with him.......I have so many memories and games to remember that bring a wry grin to me and you could never go past the sheer commitment he showed towards the branch and refereeing. He will be missed by me and many, many others.
Rest in peace Phil, although I am not there in person, my thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time.
