if a player places the ball in the corner arc for a corner, are we to insist that they bring the ball to a point 8 yards from the edge of the penalty area, or is this idea more of a suggestion (to help the younger ones) than a GDSFA law? and what if the player request the corner kick be taken from the corner are, should i refuse and ask for it to be taken from point 8 yards from the edge of the penalty area or is it ok for them to do that?
same questions for long goal kicks
bottem line is, are these two guides enforced laws or just guidlines?

nextgenref; The questions you have raised are merely guidelines that are contained in your local Referees' District's Administrative Instructions. Normally, the U9-U12 age group find it more beneficial to use this allowable corner kick guideline to place the ball on the field 7-8 metres out from the penalty area and within 1 metre of the goal line. It is a preferred option however the young player may still place the ball within the corner arc if they so choose to take the corner kick from there. Guidelines are also in place for U9s & U10s to take the goal kick from an imaginery parallel line 11 metres (12 yards) to the goal line whereby the imaginery line is extended as far as the goal box length. Of course 12 yards out from the goal line is also where the penalty spot should be marked. Once again, it is optional for the goal kick taker to place the ball anywhere within that imaginery extended region, even the goal line if so desired.

These two cases are in the GDSFA by-laws as rules. However they are worded badly. I'm sure the intention of the local rules are to extend the Goal Area and the Corner Arc to make it a fairer and more enjoyable game for the younger age groups.
