Bizarre incident today in AAM5. Late in the game, sun getting low so I am standing half a metre off the field with sun behind me so I can see clearly. Ball is played towards to side line, and player executes a slide to stop the ball going out, and hits me in the feet studs up! Player is absolutely horrified and figures that his part in the game is over! I have a laugh with him, but it wasn't until after the game that I reflected that I could have sent him off for a dangerous tackle.

I am not sure you could send anyone off for a dangerous tackle.
It seems to me that playing in a dangerous manner means you could have cautioned the player only.
SFP would only happen when it is against an opponent I believe.
Was it violent conduct. You said they were challenging for the ball so i do not think it can fit within VC either.
Violent conduct using excessive force against a match official, ok, I can see a window for the send off.
It seems from what you describe nothing more than a laugh was required though.
