The website is fine DS - perhaps a few minor changes in colours or something to brighten it up and make members notice the change (then again perhaps they wouldn't even notice). From myself and my colleagues in Ireland we think your website is and excellent resource and use it on a regular basis. We would certainly be disappointed if it wasn't there. Whilst, as far as I know, I am the only overseas Irishman to participate in the forum I do know that many look. I will see what I can do to get them to participate! DS you can give me the 10 euros later for my encouragement. Paddy

DS, yes agree that the website is fine as it is - doesn't need any major changes at the moment. Changing it probably won't help gain any extra use of the excellent information on it. Once again human nature is what it is and "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink." Some people no matter what you do will not change and accept help but don't want to give or participate in return.

Smivvy I rest my case nobody cares or wishes to be involved once the season is over except our overseas friend like you and Paddy! It would appear that most GDSRA members don't feel that the resources provide are needed as they certainly don't use enough and I have the stats to prove it. The same apathy was demonstrated with the number for our 100 year dinner. It did improve after members were reminded several times but still not nearly enough.Very Sad and disappointing!Webmaster - GDSRA

I've just updated the start page in the arbiter to have links on there to both here and the website. Can't hurt, may not help...

Smivvy,
To be honest, I think the participation rate here and the web site is indicative of the general apathy displayed by the vast majority of members towards everything other than turning up and doing some games so they get paid.
Look at the BBQ two seasons ago. The dinner, the same 50 members at meetings. The majority are clearly people who referee for the money. They have zero interest in on going education, the association or any of its' activities, or anything other than getting paid. Then we have those who just can't even be bothered to always turn up to games so as to get paid.
Not sure what the answer is, however, I do know it isn't related to the web site/forum, but a more general malaise that has infected the membership.

The website is an excellent resource for our members and it is a pity they most don't appreciate that. It is astonishing that more overseas visitors use it than our own members! I agree with the comments made in this tread - most of our members have just too much apathy about everything and couldn't care less. If the website was taken away many just wouldn't even notice it - now that's pathetic!

Thanks for the kind word Irish Referee - much appreciated as are the kind words of others in this thread. I guess we can never change some people and their apathy?Cheers

Evo/DS/Smivvy sadly it's not just here but out in clubland and on the other forum as well. People are happy to sit & snipe but when they have to do something it is too much trouble/they are too busy and don't have time, I'm sick of the excuses I hear from people these days so I wonder what would happen if none of the volunteers that run the clubs bothered turning up to rego days, no doubt the whingers would complain but not actually lift a finger to do anything
