I could do with some advice on this one. I find it difficult to start the game on time in almost every game due to teamsheets not being filled in time (or correctly) by the team managers. I find myself chasing managers well in advance and still have the teamsheet handed to me late. Even worse if i don't chase after it. I have tried a few different tac-tics to help this. Some work better than others but none ideal. Who's responsibility is it to ensure the teamsheet gets to the referee in time?

It is the team managers job to ensure you get the team sheet at least 5 minutes before the start of the game. Yes, it is often difficult to get them on time but perhaps you can tell them that if you don't get it on time you will reduce the playing time accordingly. So, for example, 5 minutes late then you play 2.5 minutes less per half (remember they have to be equal halves).Cheers Webmaster - GDSRA

Thanks DR. I have tried that and it helps but it means that i have to cut almost every game short which i don't really want to do. A lot of the seniors (mostly lower grades which I often get ) actually prefer 40 min halves anyway. Another one I have tried is to call everyone 5 min before kick-off to the center circle and make them wait there until the managers finish the teamsheets. Not very practical but it helps.

TopIrish; You must have extraordinary skills to run crab-like and keep up with say, a through-ball because a good assistant referee should be in line with the ball or the second last defender, whichever is closest to the defending team's goal line. I have never seen an a/r sprint crab-like for 25 - 40 metres. Let me know what ground you'll be at this weekend and I'll bring my camera.
