FOOTBALL Federation Australia today wielded the axe at its Sydney head office with 10 staff members being made redundant.
Among those to lose their jobs are Gary Power [National Elite Refereeing Manager], Rob Abernethy [Head of AFC Asian Cup 2015 bid] and Leeanne Grantham [Head of Women's Football].
But, despite the sackings, FFA have appointed a new Head of Communications and Corporate Affairs in Kyle Patterson, while National Technical Director Han Berger, A-League boss Lyle Gorman and John Boultbee will have increased roles.
Boultbee will now be Head of National Football development.
Patterson, a former SBS TV commentator, resigned from his job with Stadium Australia yesterday and will start work with FFA on Monday.
"I agreed to the position because I think I have the right skills and communications to do a job,'' Patterson said today.
FFA definitely have their financial problems, losing $5.8m last financial year. Failure to win the 2022 World Cup, which went to Qatar, hasn't helped. "Boultbee will now be Head of National Football development"
