Dr Peter Simmons of Charles Sturt University Australia reports that players' attitudes to referee decisions are largely determined by their attitudes to the referee. The video below interviews players and finds that they want referees to be competent, dependable and respectful. Interesting video clip and so very true in most cases.Webmaster - GDSRA

The main word not featured here is 'consistency' in being competent, dependable and respectful. I noticed in the later stages of the clip that the referee was rather slow in keeping up with play when many players ran past him and then the referee turned around with his back to where play was and I can only assume that the goalkeeper got possession of the ball at that point of time. Referees should keep sight of the ball during play or watch the players who are about to be involved with the play to minimise unsighted events that could occur while your back is turned.
