The following video is another example of the Respect not shown towards Referees and is part of the FA's Respect campaign in the UK. It is very good!Cheers

fairplay, it has been added to the players forum as suggested.
Did you notice English Premier League Referee, Howard Webb as a yellow team player or Les Ferdinand as the yellow team's captain?Webmaster - GDSRA

This is great DS and was well received in the UK and Ireland. It certainly cause a stir and woke many people up especially at the local level. How about running a Respect Program in GDSRA? I can see from the front page of the website that you have already started! Keep up the good work mate! Cheers Paddy

DS, Thanks for putting it there. I recognised Les Ferdinand but unfortunately I'm not familiar with very many well known referees but hopefully that would change. I had guessed though that there would be a few referees in the squad.

for the record i am tyring to start a similar program through GDSFA. In my role as a member of that mc I am heartily sick of the appearance of teams and players before the GDSFA MC for what we could call "behavioural issues" I have spoken with Football NSW and hope to hav something at the July GDSFA monthly meeting. I will be honest and say that I am sick of the holier than thou attitude some of the teams/coaches/managers/players and parents have, I will keep you aware and while I know it will be a long term project I hope to achieve something

Oldman25,
I was chatting to the President of Kellyville today about this very thing. We agree that it should come from FFA or at least FNSW but both of us are fully aware it will have to be driven from grass rootsto be effective.
I believe that the powers on high couldn't care less.

I have prepared a PowerPoint Presentation on Rspect which I was going to do for Feds but also have GDSFA/GDSRA version too. Happy tp present it to the MC of both bodies. It is about time we did something more as we lost another good referee this weekend! I am fed up with the lack of Respect being shown to referees in not only our district but at other levels too. It is time for a RESPECT CAMPAIGN!!Webmaster - GDSRA

I believe that a 'respect campaign" has to tried, something, anything is better than nothing. We have to reach the kids first I believe. I had under 12's on the weekend complaining that it was the ref's fault they lost due to a close offside call. Surely we have to reach the younger players first, as a lot of them undoubtedly take these bad habits into their senior football careers.

Evo
I have spoken with FNSW and they are not particularly interested in supporting the idea as they already have Sports rage and other programs so yeah it will start out small but hopefully get around. I do have a contact to speak with at Sport & Rec as well but they are on leave at the moment. As you know it seems to be getting worse but we have to start somewhere and that is why I hope to at least start people talking about it at the next monthly meeting, GDSFA that is

[glow=red,2,300]RESPECT CAMPAIGN - July 2009[/glow]
Granville District Soccer Referees Association and Granville District Soccer Football Association are responding to the growing concern from all levels of football to tackle the unacceptable behaviour in today's game. Respect is a continuous campaign aimed at creating an enjoyable playing environment that allows people to play, officiate and watch football without being abused, mocked, insulted, jeered, physically assaulted and unnecessarily criticised. GDSRA has also created a presentation for all participants in the game regarding Respect. This can be downloaded by clicking on the following link:
gdsra.com.au/Respect-Campaign.ppt
On average, 7,000 referees quit football every year in the UK because of the abuse they receive from players and from the sidelines. Lots of children also pack it in because of the attitude and actions of over-enthusiastic and pushy parents. Respect is a program that was initially launched by The FA in England at the commencement of the 2008-09 season, and has been adapted by GDSRA and GDSFA for our local needs.
To go to the Respect Campaign page click on the following link:
gdsra.com.au/respect.htm Referees are only humanWe can be Fathers, Mothers, Brothers, Sisters, Uncles, Aunties, Sons or even Daughters. We come in all shapes and sizes. A lot of us are only kids. Some of us are as young as 14, trying to earn a little pocket money. Sometimes we referee games without Assistants (previously called linesmen). Some of us are only new. We only learn by doing. Sometimes we make mistakes (but not as many as players do) - Even experienced Referees. Sometimes we view the play from a different angle to a Coach or a spectator. Sometimes our view is obstructed especially when there are 22 players on the field. Sometimes we don’t see everything. We can’t call it if we haven’t seen it! No video referees in our sport. Sometimes we look away for that split second. Sometimes we have to interpret rules that are ambiguous. Sometimes we get upset and take comments to heart. After all, we are only human. Please give us a fair go. There are three teams in a game – two teams of players and the officiating team who always try to do their best. Try not to argue with our decisions even if you feel they may be incorrect - in most cases the decision will not be changed! Accept it and get on with the game! Comments on the campaign and my efforts would be very much appreciated.
Cheers

Hi Direstraits Referee I have read your Respect Campaign and it sounds good. I just hope that it works and is adopted throughout the football family and keeps everybody happy weather they be Referee's,Coaches,Managers and players as for spectators i really think that they need to understand the LOTG. I will be passing the link on to my Referee Directors at bankstown and see how we can use this program as well. I will be watching the forum to see if you get any feedback. Good Luck
